Frequently Asked Questions
1. Why should I use Bargain Feeder™?
If you are an avid or even causal reader of bargains (deals) on the web, you probably find yourself looking through maybe one or two main sources for bargains. Some of these sites offer search capabilities, others don't, so even though the actual bargains may be great, it can a challenge finding them.
The Bargain Feeder™ service helps you find the best bargains available across over a dozen, high-quality sources for bargains. You can easily search across all of the bargain sites, and even create RSS feeds from your searches. It also makes it easy to share bargains that you find with your friends through its "Tell a Friend" feature.
Our goal is to save you time and money, and we are confident that the Bargain Feeder™ service will help you achieve this goal.
2. Is Bargain Feeder™ similar to PriceGrabber and other product comparison sites?
No. The Bargain Feeder™ service is complementary to product comparison sites; it does not compete with them. The Bargain Feeder™ service provides you with one-time offers, coupons, promotional codes, and other limited-time offers. PriceGrabber instead offers comparison of regular product prices with the occasional discounts using mail-in rebates generally.
3. I can't find my Bargain Feeder™ account activation code. How do I retrieve it?
After you signed up with Bargain Feeder™, an e-mail was sent to you with your activation code. It is necessary to activate your account before you can log in for the first time. The activation process is used to minimize automated agents from using the Bargain Feeder™ service.
If you did not receive an e-mail with your activation code, you can easily retrieve it by entering your e-mail address that you used when you first signed up with Bargain Feeder™.
4. What is RSS and why should I use it?
RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication, although there exist a few different meanings behind the acronym. Basically, RSS allows you to subscribe to changes of web site by using an RSS Reader application. For example, if you like reading blogs, you may wish to subscribe to the blogs' RSS feeds so that you can find out whenever the blog authors publish new articles.
The Bargain Feeder™ service uses RSS feeds to allow you to subscribe to the latest and most popular bargains without having to visit the Bargain Feeder™ web site periodically to find what changed. A really powerful and useful feature of Bargain Feeder is that you can create custom RSS feeds from your searches. This means that if you're looking for a new hard drive for your computer or a great pair of jeans, all you need to do is search on the product you're looking for, and then click on the RSS icon . This can be a huge time-saver.
To learn more about RSS, we recommend reviewing the Wikipedia page on RSS.
5. Do you recommend any particular RSS Reader?
One of our personal favorites is Google's RSS Reader. It's very simple to use, free, and if you already have a Google account, you're only a click away from using it. If you are a Windows user and prefer a more advanced desktop application, we recommend FeedDemon by NewsGator. It used to cost about USD $30 for a single-user license, but is now offered for free of charge. Another good RSS Reader application that works on almost any operating system available is Bottom Feeder. It is also free of charge.
There are literally hundreds of RSS Readers (also known as News Aggregators). One good resource that lists most of them can be found here.
6. Why isn't my favorite bargain site included in Bargain Feeder™?
We have carefully selected the bargain sites from which we get bargains, so to reduce noise in the bargains available through the Bargain Feeder™ service. If, however, you feel that we should add an additional bargain site to our existing list, please let us know, and we would be happy to consider it.
